The Hills

The Hills is an MTV reality program that follows the lives of several young people living in Los Angeles, California, with the show following the story of Lauren Conrad of Laguna Beach fame. The program first premiered on May 31, 2006.

Entertainment Weekly labeled the show a "New Classic" ranking it 82nd on a list of The 100 Best Shows of the Last 25 Years.

After the MTV program Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County became one of the network's highest rated programs, producers wanted to continue the story of one of its more popular characters, Lauren, as she moved to Los Angeles. After the cameras turned off for Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, and the rest of the Laguna Beach cast, those same cameras stayed on to follow Conrad as she pulled out of the driveway of her childhood home in Laguna to an apartment in Los Angeles. Initially, she lives with her friend, Heidi, attends the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and lands an internship with Teen Vogue. The cameras follow her daily and capture whatever unfolds. There is "structure" provided to the program, as real life develops day by day and most dramatic events generally occur while being filmed.

On April 28, 2009 MTV announced that The Hills will return for Season 6 in the fall without its main star Lauren.

Kirk in the Hills

Kirk in the Hills

Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian (1958) in Bloomfield Township, Michigan was designed by architects George D. Mason and Wirt Rowland . It includes the Tower of the Apostles. The tower, which houses the world's largest carillon in the number of bells contained, was installed in 1960. The Bells were donated by the Roy A. Fruehauf family and the five largest bells are named after the members of the Fruehauf Family: Roy, Ruth, Royce, Randall, and Ruth Ann. Previously Mr. Fruehauf had donated the Organ to the Church after the fire. Mr. Fruehauf was instrumental in the building of the Abbey and made a generous donation just prior to his untimely death in 1965. The 77-bells range from a 6'10" 6-short ton bourdon to the smallest at 6" 14-pounds. The church itself is modeled after Scotland's Melrose Abbey. Set on 40 acres (160,000 m2) of beautifully landscaped lakeside grounds, Kirk in the Hills constitutes one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Southeastern Michigan.

The church contains sculpture by some of the leading architectural sculptors of the day, Lee Lawrie, Corrado Parducci, and John Angel and stone carver Harry Liva. The interior also contains ceramic tile by Pewabic Pottery. The gardens contain sculpture by Marshall Fredericks.

Man in the Hills

Man in the Hills cover

Man in the Hills is a reggae album by Jamaican musician Burning Spear (Winston Rodney), released in 1976 (see 1976 in music) on Island Records. Man in the Hills was follow-up to the seminal Marcus Garvey; Man in the Hills is usually considered a worthy follow-up, though less innovative and incendiary. produced by Jack Ruby, Man in the Hills is a simple and unadorned album, with songs that reminisce about Spear's childhood in St. Anne's Bay, Jamaica.

After Marcus Garvey, Spear's fame had grown considerably, and he was a star in Jamaica and cult sensation in the United Kingdom. Man in the Hills was a much quieter and more restrained album than its predecessor, and was more astoral and dreamlike than militant and radical (though songs like "Is It Good" and "No More War" continue to address social issues).

Run to the Hills

“Run to the Hills” cover

The song was released as a single on 12 February 1982, as a prelude to the album. This would be the first single released by the band to feature current vocalist Bruce Dickinson. On the B-side was a song called "Total Eclipse", which would not be on the initial version of the album. However, the band later regretted this decision, as they thought the song was too good to be only a B-side. "Total Eclipse" was added to the Number of the Beast album when it was re-released in 1998.

The single is the second of three single-covers featuring Riggs' depiction of Satan. He debuted on the single-cover of "Purgatory" and his decapitated head is featured on the single-cover for "The Number of the Beast".

In 1985, "Run to the Hills" was released again as the band's 13th single, now in a live version, taken from the live album Live After Death. However, the single cover-art displayed Iron Maiden's mascot Eddie playing an organ, a setting that is often associated with "Phantom of the Opera". Live versions of "Phantom of the Opera" and "Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)" were the B-sides.

In early 2002 "Run to the Hills" was again released as a single, and once again in a live version. This time it was the original studio version again, but with live recordings as B-sides. The single was released to raise money for the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund, to help former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis. In March 2002, Iron Maiden played three shows at the Brixton Academy in London to raise money for this trust fund, and the single was released around the same time. Two versions of this single exist, with different B-sides.

The song is featured in the game SSX On Tour as the title's main theme.

A cover version of the song is also featured in the music video game Rock Band, and is considered one of the hardest tracks to play because of the fills, and overall endurance demanded to play the song on drums.

It is featured in GTA IV:The Lost and the Damned as a radio song.

This version of the single contains the studio version of the song "Run to the Hills", while the b-sides were recorded live at the Reading Festival, on August 28 1982. It also includes the Camp Chaos version of the "Run to the Hills" music video.

This version of the single contains a live version of the song "Run to the Hills", which is the same as on the Rock in Rio live album. The b-sides for the second version were recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on March 20 1982. The live video of "Run to the Hills" is also from the Rock in Rio live album. The cover features Eddie wearing the clothes worn by Bruce Dickinson on the Rock in Rio show.

This version was also released on a very rare Limited Edition Red 7" Vinyl that commemorated 20 years since the original 1982 release.
